Storm Corrosion is the long-discussed and highly anticipated collaboration between two of the modern progressive rock scene's most innovative and multi-talented artists: Mikael Ã…kerfeldt of Opeth and Porcupine Tree s Steven Wilson. The special edition is limited to only 5K copies in the U.S. and contains the standard CD and Blu-ray with 5.1 mix of the entire record, 2 exclusive demo tracks, & 5 instrumental tracks "It s very hard to describe this music as it is so different from most things around right now (at least as far as I know)," said Wilson. "I said it was the "opposite of metal" because I think a lot of people might have assumed from the two people involved that this would be some kind of progressive / metal thing, but in fact it s quite a minimal album with a lot of space and beauty, orchestral and organic, hardly any drums and no distorted guitars "twisted beautiful" is the best way I can describe it.""Some of the music on this record I think is the most beautiful music I have participated on ever," adds Ã…kerfeldt. "There's some magical sections on there. Musically I think we've created something earthy, a bit frightening, exhausting, profound and rather intense. All at the same time. I can safely say I don't know any other band or artist that sounds anything like Storm Corrosion. I guess that was also one of our goals, so to speak."

For Led Zeppelin fanatics, this 1976 feature The Song Remains the Same is a treasure of searing live performances, particularly welcome in light of the sad scarcity of such visual material from the band's great decade. Despite the group's road weariness after a long tour, their final, three-night stand at Madison Square Garden in 1973 was full of the old power. Performances of "No Quarter," "Whole Lotta Love," "Black Dog," "Dazed and Confused," and "Stairway to Heaven" underscore Zep's charisma. Trouble is, you don't get an unbroken performance here. Viewers have to wade through a mishmash of documentary insight into the lives of Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Bonham, and John Paul Jones, as well as fantasy sequences supposedly inspired by the thoughts and fantasies of the band's individual members. It's mostly garish and silly, but there are some nice elements, especially insights into the late Bonham's life. The DVD doesn't offer much in the way of add-ons (a theatrical trailer is about it), but there is also enhanced viewing for 16 x 9 televisions. --Tom Keogh

The Power Within is the sound of that refreshed band with a new lease of life. It is the band's most varied outing to date. Featuring both their fastest songs so far no mean feat if you're DragonForce! as well as songs like "Cry Thunder," which see the band bringing their sound into a more restrained territory pace-wise without sacrificing intensity or hooks. DragonForce have thrown out their rulebook, taking a new approach to how they compose and structure their songs. They've refined and distilled what they do, improving and focusing their songwriting skills into an even broader palette.
